NorLCAs 10th Anniversary
Nordic Life Cycle Association, NorLCA was founded in 2004 with support of the Nordic Council of Ministers with the vision of “creating a platform to promote the cross-fertilization of the life-cycle thinking philosophy between academia, industry and the public sector”. To mark the 10th Anniversary of its foundation, the NorLCA Board and the Iceland hosts are pleased to invite all these stakeholders to join the NorLCA Symposium 2014, which will take place on 2-3 October 2014 in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Themes
The 2014 symposium will focus on the following themes:

Management of resources in the Arctic Industrial symbiosis and circular economy
Energy Waste management
Built environment Life cycle thinking in policy making
Food industries Life cycle thinking and communication
Fisheries Sustainability education
 Transport, logistics and electromobility

Extension to the Global North
NorLCA has historically operated within the European Nordic Regions, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. However, we would like to extend the invitation to this year’s symposium to stakeholders in the Global North, thus encouraging Canada, USA, Russia and Greenland to join the dialogue and contribute to our communal knowledge-base. Other countries are also invited to participate. Through expanded collaboration between the full spectrum of stakeholders within life cycle thinking, we wish to support an increased application of life cycle thinking and sustainability assessments in the Northern regions, thus having as the 2014 theme Global Sustainability Challenges – Northern Approaches.
